Your Topics for the CIO Video Update?

I plan to produce another video update soon. It’s an avenue to keep each other informed, along with the March 21 UC IT Town Hall, this blog, and the webinar series.

I’d like to hear your ideas for topics and questions you would like answered in this video. We have a lot going on…the IT shared services initiative, IT innovation and entrepreneurship activities, the California Telehealth Network, UC Health’s Leverage Scale for Value initiative… These are just some ideas, and in two minutes I can’t cover it all. But let me know what you want to hear about and I’ll do my best to address the most requested items. Submit your suggestions in the comments section below this post, or email Yvonne Tevis in my office.

By the way, the first 10 respondents will get a Pez collaboration prize!

I’d like to hear your thoughts on the state of software development within the UC system. Do you see software development as a continued practice or do you anticipate that it will eventually be phased out to vendors and contractors?

Hi Tom, I would like to hear how you see UCOP’s specific role in IT Shared Services (SS). With the individual campus IT Rationalization efforts going on, I still see a large disconnect in system wide collaboration solutions that can capitalize on economies of scale and shared technical support and best practices. How shall we address this moving forward so that this doesn’t inhibit SS progress?

Hi Tom – I’d like to hear more about the vision for Health System architecture. For example moving the Health Systems away from niche applications that are stand alone unique systems.
