No Need to Fear, CSAM is Here

By Jeané Blunt. October may be known for it’s spooky holiday, but it’s also Cyber Security Awareness Month (CSAM). And what’s more frightening than unsecured data? To help UC celebrate, the UC Cyber Champions have cultivated a calendar of events throughout the month of October.

The UC Cyber Champions is a systemwide group whose goal is to strengthen UC’s culture of cybersecurity by empowering employees throughout UC to help ensure safe computing.

Cecilia Finney leads the UC Cyber Champions Group and had this to say about CSAM, “We’re very excited about our 2021 Cyber Security Awareness Month activities. We’ve tried to build upon the success of our 2020 Campaign to deliver what we hope is valuable content and events for our constituents.”

The CSAM calendar features a presentation from the “Danny Ocean of Social Engineers” on October 11, the UC Cyber Summit on October 13, a Diversity in IT Leadership Panel on Oct. 20, and much more. Registration is required to attend these events.

Finney will be joined by fellow UC Cyber Champions members, Kip Bates (UCSB), James McKinzie (UCM), Ronise Zenon (UCSD), and Esther Silver (UCSF) to speak on a panel at the UC Cyber Security Summit on October 13, at 2 p.m. If you’d like to attend this event, email the UC Cyber Security Summit organizers.
