Nominations Requested: Inaugural UC Data Privacy Award

Data Privacy Award, University of California

Data Privacy Day is celebrated each year on January 28 and represents an international effort to empower individuals and encourage businesses to respect privacy, safeguard data, and enable trust.

In celebration of Data Privacy Day 2022, the UC campus privacy officers have created the UC Data Privacy Award. The award will be given each year on January 28 to honor an employee or department that has demonstrated a commitment to UC’s Privacy Principles during the previous year.

Award Criteria

Perhaps you know someone who has worked diligently on a local policy or procedure to enhance privacy for the UC community, or are aware of a privacy champion who inserts privacy into conversations across campus or advocates for greater transparency, notice, and choice about how the UC stewards the data entrusted to it. Maybe a department has recently mapped its data or instituted data governance rules that embrace or enhance data privacy principles.

If you know of a person or department that has advanced privacy at UC, show them you appreciate their efforts by nominating them for this inaugural award no later than December 22, 2021. The winner will be announced on January 28, 2022.
