UC IT Leadership Program

The IT Leadership Program provides leadership skills to prepare participants to advance in their careers and to support change within the UC technology arena. The program was founded in 2015, and has hundreds of graduates. It is part of the UC Tech Academy, described below.

Program Details

Target audience and nomination process 

For highly engaged members of the UC Tech community, with a track record of strong performance and leardership, committment to supporting collaboration across locations and ambition to grow into senior leadership roles. The process for candidate nomination is managed locally by each CIO Council representative.

Program Learning objectives 

The program provides skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, collaboration, setting strategic priorities, time management and change management.  

Program format and location

The program, offered in-person at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, offers both peer engagement with colleagues from across the university, as well as specific exercises that help prepare participants to guide their staff through change. It is held every 18 months and consists of two, three-day sessions (for a total of six days), occurring several months apart.

The UC Tech Academy is a suite of professional development programs for the UC Tech community. The programs address the needs of a range of job levels and skills.
